Hello lovelies!

Wow, it's been over a year since I last gave a journal update. :wow: Sorry about that. Life got in the way. ^^;
Basically I've just been busy with college and trying to finish up my degree. This past semester was super busy and hectic, so I didn't have a lot of time to focus on anything else. Hopefully with my degree being nearly complete, I'll have more time to engage in my hobbies.

I'm hoping to get back in to photography soon. I miss it and I've had a few ideas floating around my head lately just not the time to work on them so hopefully you guys will see something new from me soon read: before the end of the year :dead:

I'm also hoping that inspiration for writing will hit me. I've had some flitting around, but either not enough time or motivation to actually act on it. My current manga/anime addiction is Fairy Tail and I've written a couple of fanfictions regarding that recently, so maybe it'll help me get back into the swing of things. :)

Well that's really all there is to say lol. I don't have much going on in life right now since the semester ended, so nothing exciting to report. ;p Still, figured I'd update to let you all know I'm still around. I'm just not on this site much anymore. If you'd like to keep up with me better, you can find me on Tumblr here: miah-kat.tumblr.com/  It's the site I'm most active on nowadays. I'd love for any of you to hit me up sometime! I'm always willing to chat. :)

Anyway, you lovelies take care! Thank you for your continued support and love. :blowkiss:
Have a fantastic day/afternoon/evening/night! :D

Hi lovelies!

I figured I'd write a quick little update, since it's been a while.

Let's start with #EFK. As most of you know, I've participated in this collaboration photo project with AManicMess since, roughly, last summer sometime. We wanted to keep it up for a year, though we were halted during the holidays for various reasons. Since then, we'd picked it back up; however, it came to my attention about a month ago that Jypsy no longer has a reliable camera to work with. As a result, she is unable to participate in our collaboration; when she will be able to continue has yet to be determined.
I have decided, in relation to Jypsy's inability to continue participating in #EFK, that I will also go on hiatus pertaining to the project. We began the #EFK project together, as a way to keep in touch and share our mutual appreciation for photography; due to Jypsy's loss of camera, I feel it would only be fair to both of us, as well as you viewers, that we both take pause in the project. Besides, we had switched up the way we were doing the project, so that it flip-flopped between us, every other week--this can't happen if one of us is unable to participate.
Hopefully Jypsy will get her camera fixed and we will be able to continue #EFK. Until then, thank you for your support and understanding. :aww:

Apart from that, I'm going to try to continue submitting various forms of art not in relation to #EFK; photo's, writing (fanfiction & poetry/typography), and, surprisingly, drawings. Well, kinda; I've gotten rather addicted to character bases. It's a nice way to zone out from the real world for a few hours.

I guess that's it, really. There's not much new going on in my personal life; as usual, I'm trudging through college classes, procrastinating on homework and then flipping out when I realize how bad an idea that always is. :XD: I tried to resist, but I'm pretty burnt out already...just counting down the weeks until the semester is over, and trying to save my butt from failing any classes due to aforementioned procrastination and lack of studying. Aside from college, I'm attempting for the umpteenth time... to get into a regular workout program in hopes I won't be a wheezing, unhealthy mess come time to hike everywhere in Spain this summer..:XD: Again, procrastination is the thorn in my side; if I could only be rid of that part of my nature, I'd be so much better off. Oh well.

Well, what a rather boring journal entry, lol. I appreciate any time you may have taken out of your day to read it. :XD: Thanks for following and for all the support you offer; have a fantastic morning/day/afternoon/evening/night dears! :blowkiss:

Hello dears.

I hope you're all doing well! I'm doing okay, all things considered with what happened last month; school has been keeping me busy and preoccupied so I don't get time to think of the loss much. But by the same token I don't really feel the need/urge to grieve--I'm not sure if this is my mind's way of having already accepted what happened, or if I'm potentially still in a state of shock--but at the moment that's fine because I need to focus on completing my current semester with decent grades.
Speaking of which, I only have two weeks left! Holy crap! The end of this semester is seriously sneaking up on me much faster than I anticipated; I'm both happy/relieved and freaked out because there seems I still have so much to do! :faint:

That kind of brings me to my next point, and the reason for really writing this journal. Jypsy (AManicMess) and I have come to the decision to go on hiatus for the Holiday's; this means we will not be updating #EFK until after the New Year, at which point we will begin a new "theme" of sorts. I won't tell you what we plan to do for that theme; you'll just have to watch and see. ;p

This doesn't mean that I will be taking a personal hiatus. I still plan to write and take pictures, especially if we get snow in my area! I already have a photo shoot lined up for that situation. ;p

Writing-wise, I want to finish up my 30 Day Drabble Challenge (which you can find in my Gallery in the folder titled 'Literature') as I only have 7 key words left. I'd really hate to leave the project unfinished as I came so close to completing it on time.
As some of you may be aware, I am also working on a new, lengthy NaruSaku fanfic that I hope to begin posting chapters of on my fanfiction.net account soon. However...
Somewhere out of the blue, this new "Naruto" fanfic idea hit me. And I do mean out of the blue--I woke up for school one morning and as I stepped into my shower, bam! A SasuHina fic idea. Now, I have never been a shipper for SasuHina--it is a crack-shipping for a reason, after all--but I liked the initial challenge these two as a pairing gives. Therefore, I am most currently working on my new SasuHina fic, which I currently have named "Learning to Love" (though this is subject to change as titles and I have a love-hate relationship). As it is looking right now, this fic may even have a sequel...but there's no guareentee on that seeing as I'm only on the 5th chapter. :XD: But my mind is rolling in a treasure-trove of ideas, so it's a good possibility. We shall see!
Anyway, due to this unexpected fic idea, I have also put a hiatus on my NaruSaku fic; I was kind of stuck as to where to go with it next anyway, so maybe a little time away from my OTP will help. :tighthug:

Now, as for photography, I am rolling this idea around in my head of trying a "word photography challenge". I found this fantastic Tumblr account (other-wordly.tumblr.com/) and had the inspiration of challenging myself to try to define certain words through photograph's (this will also give me more practice with various genre's of photography). Plus I realized how much it legitimately saddens me to know that there are so many people that don't know some of our language's (various language, not just English) most amazing words and their meanings. I think that using photography as a tool to teach those words would be a fun way for both myself and my viewers to grasp a better understanding of some of language's most intriguing terms.
(I know I sound like a teacher in that whole paragraph. ^^; It's ironic, coming from the English major who has no desire whatsoever to teach... :XD: )

Anyway, those are just my current goals/ideas in terms of creativity. My first and foremost goal is to complete this semester with good/decent grades so I can actually concentrate on my creative goals like I want to. :iconsighingplz:
With that said, wish me luck these next couple of weeks with classes and upcoming finals, so I can eventually give you lovely people some proof that creativity and inspiration still flows! :giggle:
Thank you all for reading and I hope to see that you've stuck around for Jypsy's and my #EFK project when we return with new material in the New Year! :glomp:

I hope you all have an amazing morning/day/afternoon/evening/night! :blowkiss: Toodles til next time, lovelies!

Hello all.

I just wanted to write a quick journal to explain my sudden absence from DA and lack of submissions (such as the #EFK collab project with AManicMess and the 30 Day Drabble Challenge). I am not certain yet when I will be able to return and continue these projects, but hopefully it will be soon.

Five days ago (Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013)  I discovered that my grandmother, whom I call Nana, had a severe, massive stroke to the left side of her brain sometime early that morning; the stroke also lead to a heart-attack. She was transported to the hospital that afternoon after my Mom found her (after having had a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach all day since my Nana hadn't answered the phone when anyone called to check on her). It was a very long night of waiting and worrying over what had happened; we were finally told the prognosis and had to head home to get some rest before returning the next morning. However, my Nana was med-flighted to a bigger hospital at 4:00 A.M. Friday morning, so we had to head there instead. We stayed by her side much of the passing days, waiting for news of her health.
Her doctor soon explained the reality of how very sick my Nana was. The stroke had been the largest he had ever seen a victim "survive", and he was quite shocked she was still holding on even then, especially after the stroke had caused a heart-attack as well. It was brought to our attention on Saturday that the stroke had damaged the entirety of her left brain, which ultimately caused total paralysis of the entire right side of her body, as well as would have affected her ability to speak--the stroke was also causing swelling of the brain, which was pushing against the right side of her brain, causing further damage.
It was very clear that if my Nana did wake up (which she hadn't since she'd been found) that she would never be the same woman again.
The decision was made on Sunday, with the support of the doctor's, to take my Nana off of the ventilator that helped her breathe, as well as the other various machinery, in order to allow her to be as comfortable as possible. We knew that we could lose her anywhere from the instant the ventilator was removed, to days later.
We didn't have to wait as long as days, thankfully; my Nana passed away peacefully Sunday evening, Oct. 27, 2013, around 6:20 P.M.

It has been a very difficult and emotional week as we waited and ultimately let my Nana go to her final resting place. As a believer in the Christian faith, it brings me comfort to know that I will see her again one day, but until then she is once again with her loved ones who have preceded her.

Tonight we are having Family Visitation Night at the funeral home, and tomorrow afternoon will be the funeral.
My Nana was more than a grandmother to me; she was a mother-figure and a very dear best-friend. The loss of her presence in my life has been something I have dreaded for many years and I am still shocked to have lost her this soon. Please wish me strength as I face this difficult time.
Thank you, dear friends/readers, and take care.
